Metric Classic Service is a Melbourne-based workshop dedicated entirely to classic Volkswagens. No modern cars. No distractions. Just the cars we love, done properly.

How it started

Metric Classic Service grew out of a simple frustration: finding a workshop that actually understood air-cooled VWs was harder than it should be. Too many owners were getting generic advice from mechanics who treated their Beetle or Kombi like any other old car.

We started with a single bay and a reputation built entirely on word of mouth. Owners who'd been let down elsewhere found us, and they kept coming back. That's still how most of our work comes in today.

Over the years we've expanded the workshop and the team, but the approach hasn't changed: honest assessment, quality parts, and workmanship we're prepared to stand behind.

Not only do we work on Volkswagens, we also drive and collect Volkswagens. Old VWs is our passion.

Between our team we've worked on countless Beetles, Kombis, Karmann Ghias, and Type 3s. We've seen the common problems, the rare ones, and everything in between. That depth of experience is what you're paying for — not just the labour.
